What our cleaners will never do in your home
Inviting a cleaning team into your home takes trust. You deserve to know how they will respect your space, handle your preferences, and stay focused on the work you booked. At Olivia’s Cleaning Services, clear house rules help you understand what to expect before your appointment.
For busy families in St. Louis, getting help with cleaning should make the week easier. Whether you are working from home, heading to the office, or managing school pickup, knowing how your cleaning team operates can help you feel more comfortable.
Here is a closer look at the boundaries and everyday practices behind our service.
We respect your home and your privacy
Your home is where your family lives, works, and relaxes. Being invited inside does not give a cleaning team permission to use your belongings or make decisions about who enters. While working in your home, our cleaners do not:
- Smoke.
- Eat or drink anything other than water.
- Turn on your television or radio.
- Answer your phone.
- Open the door to visitors.
These rules keep the appointment focused on cleaning and help preserve the boundaries of your household.
If your phone rings, we leave it for you. If someone comes to the door, our team does not let them inside. Arrange deliveries, repairs, or visits directly rather than relying on the cleaning team to receive someone on your behalf.
Before an appointment, share access instructions with our office. Clear arrangements help everyone understand how the team should enter and which areas are included in the service.
We bring our own cleaning supplies
You do not need to make a last-minute shopping trip to prepare for our arrival. Olivia’s Cleaning Services brings its own supplies for the scheduled cleaning.
Choosing a cleaning product means considering the surface and following the product’s label instructions. A product suitable for one material may not be suitable for another.
If your home has a specialty finish, a surface with specific care requirements, or an area you are concerned about, tell us before the appointment. Manufacturer care instructions are especially helpful when a material needs a particular method or product.
Our goal is to clean thoughtfully within the agreed service. We do not promise that every stain, mark, or area of existing damage can be removed.
Bathroom cloths stay out of your kitchen
The cloth used in a bathroom should not become the cloth used on your kitchen counter. Our team uses color-coded cloths to keep bathroom and kitchen cleaning cloths separate. This provides a clear way to distinguish their intended use while moving through the home.
It is a practical detail that matters. A counter may look clean, but the tools used to clean it deserve attention too.
Keeping cloths separate is part of our cleaning process. It does not mean that a home becomes sterile or that every surface is disinfected. Cleaning and disinfection are different tasks, and any disinfectant use needs to follow the product’s directions.
Your product preferences deserve a conversation
Some families prefer a certain product for their floors, counters, or other surfaces. Others have specific instructions from the manufacturer of a fixture or finish.
If you would like us to use a product you provide, let us know before the visit and leave it out in its original, clearly labeled container. Tell us where you want it used.
We can review the request against the surface, product directions, and scheduled service. Leaving a bottle on the counter alone may not give the team enough information to use it as you intended.
Avoid leaving mixtures or products in unlabeled containers. Clear labeling and advance communication help prevent confusion.
If you have fragrance sensitivities or other product concerns, discuss them with our office before booking so we can explain the available options without promising a reaction-free environment.
We read your notes and pay attention to your priorities
A short note can help your cleaning team understand your home.
You might want to point out a delicate item, identify a room that should be skipped, or explain that a particular surface requires special care. Those details are useful, especially when shared before the appointment.
Keep instructions specific. For example:
- “Please leave the papers on the office desk where they are.”
- “Please skip the guest bedroom today.”
- “The countertop care instructions are beside the labeled cleaner.”
- “Our cat will be in the closed bedroom.”
We read your notes and follow instructions that fit the agreed service and safe working conditions. If a request changes the scope of the appointment or needs clarification, discuss it with our office beforehand.
A note requesting extra work does not automatically add that task to the booking. Confirming changes in advance helps us plan the time and supplies needed.
We treat your pets with care
Pets are part of the family, and we want to work respectfully around them. Before the visit, tell us if you have pets and share relevant instructions. Let us know if an animal is nervous around visitors, likely to slip through an open door, or uncomfortable with cleaning equipment.
Depending on your pet’s needs, you may want to arrange a comfortable, secure area away from the rooms being cleaned. Share that plan with the team.
Our role is to clean your home. Pet feeding, walking, supervision, and other pet-care responsibilities should be arranged separately. A clear plan helps the appointment run more smoothly for you, your animals, and our cleaners.
Familiar faces and clear follow-up help build trust
Olivia’s Cleaning Services has been locally owned in St. Louis since 2007. We are insured and bonded, and our cleaners are background-checked and trained.
For recurring appointments, we do our best to send your regular cleaner. Familiarity can help a cleaner understand your preferences and your home’s layout, although staffing and scheduling needs can mean a different team member visits.
Communication matters after the cleaning too. If you notice a missed area that was included in your appointment, contact our office and explain what you found. Under the policy described in our service materials, a missed spot is addressed on your next visit at no additional charge. Our office can clarify how that applies to your booking.
You should feel comfortable asking questions about both the work and the process.
A few details to share before your first visit
You do not need to clean your home before asking for cleaning help. Making the agreed areas accessible and sharing important information gives the team a better starting point. Before your appointment:
- Confirm entry instructions.
- Identify rooms or items that should be left alone.
- Share surface-care requirements and product requests.
- Explain your pet arrangements.
- Confirm your priorities and the tasks included in your booking.
If you are unsure whether a task is included, ask our office. Discussing it before the visit helps set realistic expectations and keeps the appointment organized.
